Nowadays, experts are continuously creating many unique fragrances, bringing many practical applications to life. Imperium invites you to learn about how to use Perfume Oil and explore useful knowledge surrounding this fascinating world of scents!
What is Perfume Oil ?
Are you curious about what Perfume Oil is? Imagine them as 'melodies' of scents skillfully created by experts. They are the 'secret' that helps perfumes, scented candles, cosmetics, shampoos, and many other products around us have truly pleasant and captivating scents! These fragrances are created from a sophisticated combination of many ingredients, offering a diversity of scents, and are designed to be safe and widely used in daily life, making everything more fragrant and interesting.
Did you know that extracting fragrant essential oils from natural flowers, leaves, and wood requires significant effort and precious raw materials? Therefore, to make these wonderful scents more accessible and consistently available for us to enjoy, experts often skillfully blend them with fragrance components created in laboratories. This clever combination helps create perfume oils that retain their captivating characteristics while ensuring stable quality and safety for use in your favorite products.

How to use Perfume Oil in scented candles
The method for adding Perfume Oil to scented candles is quite similar to using it for perfumes or essential oil diffusers. Let's explore the simple steps with Imperium to create fragrant candles that perfectly match your 'style'!
Step 1: Choosing the 'Soul' Scent for Your Candle
This is the first and also the most exciting step! Choose a Perfume Oil with a scent you love and that suits the space you intend it for.
Important: Prioritize perfume oils that have good scent throw when combined with candle wax. This ensures your candle not only smells good up close (cold throw) but also powerfully diffuses the fragrance throughout the room when lit (hot throw).
Advice: Don't hesitate to experiment and learn about different perfume oils. That is the key to finding the perfect combination and creating a unique signature for your scented candle products.
Step 2: 'Measure Out' the Golden Ratio
To achieve the best quality scented candle, determining the correct amount of Perfume Oil to use is crucial.
Reference: You can start with the ratio suggested by the perfume oil supplier.
Flexibility: This ratio may vary slightly depending on:
Scent characteristics: Some scents are inherently strong, while others are lighter.
Type of candle wax: Each type of wax (like soy wax, palm wax, beeswax, paraffin...) has different abilities to 'hold' and 'release' fragrance (fragrance load capacity).
General rule: Typically, the percentage of Perfume Oil in a candle (fragrance load) ranges from 3% to 10% of the wax weight. For example, if you use 100g of wax, you might use 3g to 10g of perfume oil. This allows you to adjust the intensity of the fragrance according to your preference.
Step 3: Blending the Fragrance into the Candle Wax
This is the decisive step determining whether the fragrance blends evenly into the candle.
Optimal Timing: Add the Perfume Oil to the melted wax after removing it from the heat. Wait for the wax temperature to drop to around 70-85°C (158-185°F) (depending on the type of wax and the perfume oil supplier's instructions). Note: Do not add the perfume oil when the wax is too hot, as high temperatures can cause the fragrance to evaporate, which is very wasteful!
Procedure: After adding the Perfume Oil, use a wooden stick or a clean utensil to stir the wax and oil mixture thoroughly for about 1-2 minutes. This ensures the fragrance is evenly distributed throughout the wax before you pour it into the candle container or mold.
Step 4 (Small Tip): Enhancing the Scent Throw When Burning
Do you want an even richer and stronger scent diffusion? Here's a little trick:
How to do it: When the candle has completely hardened, before lighting it, you can directly add 1-3 drops of Perfume Oil onto the wax surface.
Patience: Wait about 2 minutes to allow the oil time to soak into the top layer of wax.
Result: When you light the candle, this layer of oil will help enhance the fragrance diffusion into the space.
Caution: Don't overuse this method! Adding too much oil can cause black smoke or make the candle burn unevenly. Use a moderate amount to ensure safety and the best burning quality for the candle.
